Cedar Mat Weaving with Ali Casey

We had a wonderful first Root Down workshop under the trees of the Forest That Holds Water (Reed Road Forest Reserve) on the traditional and unceded land of the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Nation. Led by artist and teacher Ali Casey, we learned about how the Shíshálh people harvest and prepare cedar for weaving. She then taught us how to weave a cedar mat.
